SOUTHPORT GARAGE

Route operations in Southport. There is no hard and fast rule as to vehicle type to route allocation in Southport. On the whole routes 42/44 are operated by the Wright bodied B6/10BLE’s with the occasional Plaxton bodied Dart or Marshall bodied Dart, or even B10B, routes 43/46, and 49/49A are operated with anything allocated to Southport you can see examples of most types on these routes although route 49/49A seem to have more high floor buses allocated to it than route 43/6, routes 47, 48, 48A & 300 are worked by Wright Endurance bodied B10B’s with the occasional low floor bus usually Wright bodied examples, routes PR1, PR2 are operated by the Enviro 200’s, with the DAF SB220 working route 49, and PR1 or PR2 on Saturday, Saturday only PR3 is worked by the Plaxton bodied Darts, with other low floor buses covering for shortages, the Plaxton bodied Darts also normally work on 43/6 and 49/49A, and the Olympians work on routes 43/6, 47B, and occasionally 49/49A, & 300, although ANY bus can appear on ANY route

yellow livery.

It was passing from Lime Street (southbound) into Queen Square at about

6544 is finally being withdrawn tomorrow night (24/11/09) on expiry of its MOT. 6546 has been withdrawn after gearbox failure. 6607/8/9 are due from Bootle as short term replacements for (slightly) older B10Bs. Over the next few weeks electronic destination equipment from Endurances will be swapped on to 2722-2728. 1176 has left Canning Road now. 6516/6528 are now with Constable of Ipswich.

Skem News 3361 is classed as withdrawn following its fire another decker is due as a replacement this week. 3283/9 are now in the 'new' livery.

GENERAL NOTES/SERVICE

On Friday B10B6514 wrote

Hi, Kev, 6516, 6528 and 6535 have left Southport and are now down in Essex with Ensign. 6517 passed to Stafford Bus Centre for onward sale. Earlier withdrawn 6507 has passed to JP Travel of Manchester via Stafford Bus Centre. Withdrawn buses held in Southport black-lined are 6515,6518,6521 and 6535 awaiting collection by Ensign for onward sale. Dart 1176 is also still present in the former paint shop black-lined but its purchaser is unknown - possibly one of the Barnsley breakers. 6544 is due for withdrawal imminently. 6617 has re-entered service in the "new" standard ( formerly interurban) livery- the first Southport bus to be so treated. 6514 is now withdrawn and is being converted at Bootle body shop to form Southport's new training bus and will be renumbered 8224 for its' new role. 6597 came from St. Helens depot after a few weeks there. Skem are in the process of receiving 6 VDL SB200/Wright Pulsar 2s 3023-3028 this week. Volvo Olympians 3343 and 3344 have been transferred back to Winsford. Marshall Dart 7645 has returned to Skem from St. Helens. 3101/4/6/8 have all been sold or moved to Arriva North East for spares. There isn't a fifth Scania- the originally defective bus never returned 7621 was kept instead. B10Bs 6523 and 6526 are now training buses at other North West depots. Dart 1300 is now withdrawn for sale. Last but not least another Solo with Cumfybus is V232LWU which is repainted yellow and been present in the Southport yard for the last couple of months although not yet entered service.
